Club Indianapolis News

WELCOME TO 2013
Whether you celebrated Chanukah, Christmas, Kwanza, Winter Solstice or all four, the holiday season was an opportunity to give and receive gifts. Hopefully the most important gift was to yourself in the form of self compassion, love and a healthy body. The Club's hope is that you truly embrace the New Year by giving yourself unconditional love and respect.

9 HEALTHY NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS

Control your Portions
Want to downsize your waistline? Start downsizing your dishes. Studies show using smaller plates and bowls promote weight loss.

Be active
Try to inject each day with more activity. Strength training and/or cardiovascular activity for 30 minutes or more should be the goal. Once you have developed the right mindset, the opportunities are endless.

Slash sodium consumption
It is said that Americans consume twice the recommended limit of sodium which is one teaspoon (or 6 grams) daily. Besides contributing to water retention (bloating!!!), sodium can raise blood pressure. Lower sodium diets are linked to decreased risk of heart disease, lower hypertension and weight management.

Increase Antioxidants
During the process of breaking down food, your body produces free radicals. Free radicals are also produced by radiation and cigarette smoking. That's where antioxidants step in. An example would be that once you cut an apple, it begins to brown, but if you dip it in orange juice (which contains vitamin C, an antioxidant), it stays white. You can defend your body the same way by including rich sources in your diet. Pomegranates, coffee and even chocolate contain antioxidants.

Quite Smoking
Quitting smoking may be the hardest habit to break. If you take advantage of today's resources, this could be the year you successfully become a non-smoker. SMOKEFREE.gov is a great website for resources to bookmark.

Floss your teeth
You may not know that bacteria in your mouth can lead to serious problems if you neglect oral health. Your dentist can detect indications of diabetes and heart disease. One simple thing you can do to head off bacteria is floss your teeth.

WITH ALL OF THAT SAID
The Gym @ Club Indy offers wallet friendly gym membership prices and all the equipment you need to get the body you deserve. After you purchase your $20 membership card, you can choose from three different pricing agreements. Our EFT program allows you to pay just $45 a month with either a Visa or Mastercard. Gym memberships can also be purchased on a six month ($250) or yearly ($365) basis. Right now, if you purchase our yearly gym membership, the most economical choice, we will give you ONE MONTH FREE. With the right program and our gym full of free weights, circuit machines, treadmills & elliptical equipment, there is no way you can't lose. Call or stop by, speak with a member of management and we will be more than happy to give you a ONE TIME FREE VISIT to check things out.

MORE THAN THAT
Regardless if you are seeking a gym or just a place to hang out and be yourself, the Club offers many an option. Blow off steam in our steam room, sweat it out in our sauna, take a whirl in our huge Jacuzzi or just relax in your own private dressing room. Of course we do have lockers and one of our ongoing specials is that from 8am to 4pm MONDAY - FRIDAY LOCKERS are just $10. The weekend brings in our buddies from Kentucky, Ohio and surrounding areas. Them along with our fun-loving locals make for one heck of a weekend so on Sunday we like to have a little SUNDAY LUNCH @ 1pm to help re-energize everyone and keep the party going. Feel free to come "jump on the pile" anytime!

LIPS, HIPS & FINGERTIPS
It use to be said that that is all you need to have a good time @ Club Indy. While we do offer plenty of NSA fun, we would like to think that connections are made, friendships are formed and a good time is had by all.....ENJOY YOUR 2013 and BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER.

Club New Orleans News

Fall is here, the cool weather has arrived and hopefully this will keep those hurricanes away! Thanks to those brave souls who dared to venture into New Orleans after Hurricane Isaac to make a little bit of Southern Decadence happen.  Many parts of the city were without power for most of Labor Day weekend and it was a struggle for all of us.  The spirit of Decadence may have been a little drenched from all the rain but was very much alive.

Our sundeck sustained damage from Isaac and was closed for a few days, but it is back up and running now. The sundeck is open year round for your enjoyment. Come on out and join our regular "brown bun brigade" who love to bake every day.

Fall is full of fun events in New Orleans starting with the 17th annual Gretna Heritage Festival October 5-7 featuring 7 stages with performances by international entertainers as well as local Louisiana favorites.  Headliners include Joe Cocker, Foreigner, and The Temptations! The festival encompasses 25 city blocks with a huge craft fair and food booths featuring something for everyone.  Take the free pedestrian ferry at Canal Street, just five blocks from The Club.  For details check out www.gretnafest.com .

New Orleans has been named a premier Halloween destination by Travel and Leisure magazine and Halloween 29 will certainly live up to that honor!  This year's theme is "Monster Brawl" and will be held October 25-28.  Start your weekend off with the Lazarus Ball on Thursday at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art and then attend the South's most extravagant costume party on Saturday night at 900 Camp Street.  Costumes are required.  This event has raised over $4.5 million  for AIDS services.  Check out www.halloweenneworleans.com for a complete schedule of events.

If you like The Club, lick us on Facebook, oops, I mean like us on Facebook.  Your input is valuable to us.  Check out the Club site and let us know how we can better serve you.

The month starts off with the 2012 Satchmo SummerFest August 3-5.  This premier jazz festival is dedicated to the life and music of New Orleans' own Louis Armstrong and takes place at the Old U.S. Mint on Esplanade Avenue adjacent to The French Market.  The music lineup includes Kermit Ruffins and the Barbecue Swingers, Preservation HallStars, Yoshio Toyama and the Dixie Saints, Leroy Jones, and Treme Funktet.  Get more information at www.satchmosummerfest.com .

Saints Football returns with the first preseason game August 9th against the New England Patriots.  Watch the game here at The Club while you sit in the hot tub with your buds.  Don't be left out when The Saints Go Marching In!

Congratulations to Southern Decadence Grand Marshalls XXXVIII Pat McArdle and T.J. Conrad as they lead the 41st Southern Decadence celebration of Gay life, music, and culture. This year's theme is  "Peace, Hope & Love = Monkey Dance.
The official colors are white, purple and silver.  Make The Club your party headquarters and get into drag with your friends to head out to the parade.  The festival runs from August 29th through September 1st.  For a detailed schedule visit www.southerndecadence.com and make your hotel reservations early.

The Club reminds all our visitors to the city to play it safe on and off the streets.  Please be aware that the French Quarter is a residential neighborhood and that the New Orleans Police Department will arrest you for public nudity and urinating in the streets.  We want everyone to have a great time!

It's Summertime in New Orleans and that means a lot of heat and hot sweaty  men at The Club gym and on the sundeck tanning their buns. After you catch some rays, come on down to one of our video lounges to cool your engines. It's too hot to wear clothes, so feel free to shed them and your towel too.  Go Naked!

Happy Birthday America!   GO 4th on the River is the New Orleans version of a great American birthday party.  Free outdoor concerts are presented on several stages along the Riverwalk leading up to the Dueling Barges Fireworks Extravaganza on the Mighty Mississippi River. It all takes place just steps from The Club, or better yet, watch the show from our sundeck and then come back in, light your fuses, and make some fireworks of your own.  For all the details visit www.go4thontheriver.com .

The New Orleans Essence Music Festival takes place July 5-8 at the Superdome.  Each night the main stage will be electrified with performances by the hottest stars in R&B, soul, and gospel including special performances by Aretha Franklin, The Pointer Sisters and Mary J. Blige. Seminars are held during the day at the New Orleans Convention Center.  For a complete listing, check out www.essence.com .

The New Orleans Monteleone Hotel hosts the 10th annual Tales of the Cocktail seminar July 25th-29th.  The world's premier cocktail festival brings together the most respected minds on mixology for 5 days of cocktails, cuisine, and culture.  (Of course, The Club features it's own version of cock tales!)  For more information visit www.talesofthecocktail.com .

Gene would like to congratulate Regina and ask her if she remembers the good old days when we all worked together at Fat Sam's and the Post Office putting together the Mr. Club New Orleans contests in the early 70's and 80's.

A very important event is coming up for the NOAIDS Task Force called Dining Out for Life.  Over 75 area restaurants are participating on Thursday, July 19th.  Please support this worthy cause. Visit the Dining Out for Life website at www.diningoutforlife.com .

July is here and, for us, that means several things.  It means hot, its means heat, it means men, it means sun, it means food and it defiantly means good times with good friends.

We kick off the month with RED, WHITE & BANGED! Our 4th of July celebration this year includes a poolside picnic at 1pm followed by a RED, WHITE & BLUE GLOW PARTY @ 8pm. We provide the food, fun, the glow and the finger that flips the switch. The only question is, where will you be when the lights go down?

INDOOR/OUTDOOR MOVIE
Somewhere, somehow, someone came up with the idea to show movies poolside, under the stars. So now we do, sometimes.  Join us every Tuesday night for a fun MOVIE NIGHT @8pm. Sometimes we will do them indoors, sometimes we will do them outdoors but one thing we will always do is make sure you have a good time.  Snacks provided.

IT’S NEVER A PARTY UNTIL THE WEINERS COME OUT
That’s what we hear anyway. That’s why every Sunday @ 1pm we serve up a delicious Lunch buffet. Granted, it may not always include hot dogs but we think you get the idea.

SIMPLY PUT
Well, that’s all we have for this month. After the events of Pride and the fun we know everyone had in June, we are going to spend July simply enjoying the great weather and spending time with you, our friends. We hope you join us and remember……Every day is a fun day because WE ARE ALWAYS HOT! WE ARE ALWAYS OPEN! WE ARE CLUB INDIANAPOLIS.

Where else can you find three festivals in one except in New Orleans:  the city hosts three festivals from June 9-10 including the Louisiana Seafood Fest where the finest restaurants are on hand to serve up their signature seafood specialties.  There will also be cooking demonstrations,  workshops, and book signings.  Just a few blocks away is the Creole Tomato Festival that features home grown tomato dishes.  Stroll along The famed French Market and enjoy the shops and open air booths filled with treasures.  Take a short walk to The Mint on Esplanade and listen to Cajun/Zydeco artists like you've never heard before.  For all the details visit www.louisianaseafood.com

The first day of summer comes on June 20th so get working on that tan before the hot weather sets in.  The sundeck at The Club is open  24/7 for your sunlight or moonlight pleasures.  Then head on down to the gym where the AC is cranked up and work off all those calories you consumed at The Seafood Festival!  Remember guys, you can get a monthly gym pass for only $45.   Have a safe and fun summer from the staff of Club New Orleans.

March signals the beginning of Spring and is a perfect time of year to enjoy the city. Club New Orleans Newsletter - February 2012

Happy Mardi Gras Everybody!  The Carnival season goes into overdrive this Saturday Night, February 4th, with the highly anticipated Krewe du Vieux Parade that marches through the French Quarter and right by The Club.  Come and enjoy an afternoon at The Club New Orleans and then step right out the front door for a front row seat to the the most outlandish parade of the season.  The fun starts at 6p.m.

It's non-stop fun through Fat Tuesday, February 21st.  The theme for our favorite parade has been announced by the Krew of Barkus.  Hundreds of dogs will take to the streets of the French Quarter in costumes with a "Mission Impossible" theme.  Your mission, should you choose to accept it is to change your dog's identity in order to gain access to places that would NEVER allow dogs.  All proceeds benefit animal organizations in New Orleans.  Visit www.barkus.org for all the de"TAILS".

Don't forget your sweet heart on Valentine's Day, February 14th.  This year give him a healthy HEART by presenting him with a Gym Membership at The Club for the low price of $45 per month.  Stop by the Club and ask for information.

Join the New Orleans Leather Community at the South's oldest and biggest leather block party as the Lords of Leather celebrate The Night of the Black Mask on February 17th at the Phoenix/Eagle bar on Elysian Fields.

Experience the ultimate costume contest at the 48th annual Bourbon Street Awards on Mardi Gras day, February 21st, at 12 noon. The most spectacular costumes of Mardi Gras parade down Bourbon Street  in front of the Oz Bar.  Don't miss any of the festivities, so make your reservations now and come on down to the Big Easy.  HAPPY MARDI GRAS!!!
