The Greatest Day

I have to tell you about one of the greatest experiences I had recently at The Club. I always have fun there, but about a week ago the weather was horrible. I decided to hit up the place after a somewhat boring day stuck inside. What better place to be stuck inside, eh? So I headed over and it was pretty obvious that I wasn’t the only one with this idea. There were men everywhere.

The locker room was full of men changing and chatting, all very casual and fun. It was one of those environments where the term “boys will be boys” rang true. Everybody was laughing, talking about the weather, sex, movies – small talk. It was impossible not to join in and share in the revelry despite the gloomy sky.

I decided it would be best to shower off first, and I had become accustomed to doing this on days I was feeling at ease and not shy. The thing about the one shower area in this place is that it was pretty open. Guys pretty much could see you from all areas of The Club. I showered, got myself all soapy and clean and felt like a new man. I really was on cloud nine. Guys were walking by, all different types, some showering too and the vibe and aura of the place was just electric. I didn’t know where to begin.

It turned out that I didn’t need to know where to begin. Upon exiting the shower, a few guys came up and started shooting the shit with me. Great guys, their names were Ben and Will. A third guy was with them, but I didn’t catch his name. We stood around the main area, just talking and taking in the sites of all the festive men. They suggested we take a stroll around the room area to see what there was to see.

There was definitely a lot to see. Everybody seemed so hospitable, I never saw so many rooms with open doors. I won’t bore you with detail on what was there, but do know that we got lost in that maze of rooms for quite some time. It was one of those experiences that you just look back on and realize that nothing too crazy happened, but there were just good people and good times.

After our jaunt through the labyrinth I thought a good sauna and shower would really seal the deal. It did. I met back up with Ben and the guy who’s name I never got and we talked a little bit about nothing in particular. I had to admit that I once thought the notion of bathhouse shenanigans and making friends was a little far-fetched, but sitting there in the sauna, chatting with my new friends I realized that I was definitely wrong in my assessment of The Club before delving in.

After Work Relaxing

Over the course of the few weeks after my second, brave experience, I decided that I really enjoyed The Club. True, I was still just a little nervous each time, but it was getting better. The irony of the situation is that once you get into the place it’s very relaxing. The stress and the nerves are on fire thinking about the experience and the unknown of what’s about to happen, but once that towel comes on and you walk around meeting people, it all washes away.

The thing I didn’t expect was the fact that I would meet people I genuinely liked. Don’t get me wrong, there are people there I didn’t care for, but the social, chill atmosphere of just lounging around with guys was a breath of fresh air. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thoroughly enjoyed the sex, too.

The great thing about a place like The Club is the ways in which you can explore your sexuality. Fetishes you didn’t know you had and people you didn’t know you were attracted to all come together so that you learn so much about yourself.

One Tuesday, after work, I was feeling particularly antsy and decided to swing by The Club to chill and see what happens. I wasn’t overly horny like I had been on previous occasions, but being young and able, it didn’t really matter.

This time I decided to lay out in the sauna. Nothing really sooths you after a day in the office like some dry heat. I walked in and it was empty. I figured the boys were off in their rooms or out at the pool. I positioned myself near the back corner so I could lie down as well as see who came in. The room was the perfect temperature, and as I laid there with my towel draped over me I could feel the beads of sweat starting to materialize all over my body and run down my sides. I felt like I was drifting off to sleep in a completely relaxed state when I half opened my eyes and realized I wasn’t alone.

I looked over and saw two men sitting on the other side of the room, chatting in low whispers – apparently trying not to disturb me. I decided to “play dead” for a little while longer and hear what they were talking about. I couldn’t make it out exactly, but the words rope and sling were used. My pulse started to quicken and I wasn’t sure why. All of a sudden they stopped talking and started chuckling. I opened my eyes this time and looked over. They were staring at me with a look of curiosity and desire. I then realized why they were chuckling as I gazed down at my tented towel.

I chuckled as well and they got up and strolled over to me. They sat a little below me and introduced themselves as Tim and Rich. After some polite conversation, the intent gaze Rich was giving me got a little closer and I found myself with a couple of really fun new friends. New friends that I would learn a lot from.

Bathhouse Friends

It had been a few weeks since I last went to The Club and I honestly couldn’t stop thinking about it. Not in a crazy, obsessive way, but it was so hot and I had such a good time that I yearned for it. Still, I wasn’t sure if I really classified myself as a “Bathhouse Guy” so I didn’t run back there very quickly. I almost regret that now, looking back on some good times I was most likely missing out on.

When I did go back, I was again pretty nervous. The first time I was so horny I couldn’t stand it, and the second time wasn’t much different. After a few weeks of longing, I again found myself alone, aroused and thinking about The Club. I decided it was a long enough wait and I almost ran there.

Since it was my second time, I knew what to do and where to go despite the fact that my heart was still pounding in my chest. Once again, I took off my clothes as fast as possible and left the locker room in my towel to do a lap and find out what was going on. I realized as I was doing this that it was a great way to make yourself feel at ease, walking around, taking everything in, seeing who was there. All of that made the unknown known and my heartbeat settle down a tad.

I decided to take things easy this time. The last time I was here, I dove right into the steam room and had a blast, but my tactic then was to get my rocks off as fast and as many times as possible. This time I wanted to experience the place a little more. I decided to lounge by the pool for a little while.

The pool area was actually quite beautiful. It wasn’t just a cement hole in the ground, it was a resort-style pool and then men lounging around it weren’t really the aggressive type you’d expect in a place like this. They were hanging out, chatting and being friendly with each other. I have to admit, it was a little odd for me to see – after all, wasn’t the whole point just sex? Still, I was intrigued and picked a spot and after a few minutes, I easily got roped into nearby conversation.

My second time at The Club was not really at all what I was expecting. I had a really good time, and not just sexually either. I had a few laughs and met some really cool guys. Nothing is more relaxing than just lounging by the pool and shooting the shit.
After a little while of small talk we decided to go see what was happening inside. We walked around the labyrinth of hallways I decided to again pick a common area. This time I chose the sauna, some dry heat seemed like exactly what I needed. I beckoned for my new friends to join me and we sat along the upper wall and watched a few guys thoroughly enjoying themselves. It wasn’t long until we all got in the mood as well and next thing I knew I was on cloud nine, with the only thought in my mind being, “Why did I wait so long?” The next visit won’t be so far in the future.

Bathhouse Beginnings

I walked into the Club and I have to admit, I was pretty nervous. There were a few guys in the welcome area I didn’t dare look any of them in the eye. A mere half hour ago I was clawing at myself I was so horny, and at that time the decision to come here was a no-brainer. I felt like a 24 year old should experience a place like this, especially one as sexually healthy as I considered myself. Still, the act of actually being in there was a little overwhelming. There was honestly no turning around at that point, and the unknown ahead was extremely titillating.

As I walked into the locker room I looked out of the corner of my eye to see who was around. There were two guys changing, slightly older than me with nice, manly bodies, but again I couldn’t really look them in the eye. I picked a locker in the corner where nobody could really see me and quickly took off my clothes, shoved them into a locker, wrapped myself in the towel and finally breathed. “Here we go,” I thought to myself.

I left the locker room, rounded the corner and was slightly surprised by the venue. It spread out before me and the only thing I could compare it to was an adult male playground. It was a gym, a spa and a social club all at the same time. My mind dwelled on this for a fraction of a second because it was at this point I realized that there were men everywhere in towels. So many things were running through my head, but the most prominent thing was sex and I felt my lust rising inside me.

I walked around the establishment to acquaint myself. Steam room, sauna, pool, whirlpool, shower, it was all pretty much as expected. It all seemed inviting and the men sitting around these areas were just as inviting. The nerves I had felt upon entering the place were slowly being replaced by arousal and I’m confident I wasn’t the only one who noticed my more relaxed state. Every minute that passed made me more and more comfortable, but I still wasn’t looking anybody entirely in the eyes. I felt like the next step would be to commit to a location.

I opened the door to the steam room and proceeded to sit down on the opposite end of the room, where I noticed a couple guys spaced out and also lounging, taking in the humid air. It was at this point that I decided to relax enough and make some eye contact. I looked up and across the area was a guy, eyes locked on mine, and all his eyes said was, “I want you now.” I’m not sure if it was his gaze or the steam, but my breath caught in my throat. As I coughed a little and turned my head I realized he was standing before me. I looked up slowly, scared about what might be meeting me at the top of his strong frame. I then reached the top and met that intent gaze again. I smiled despite myself.

Club Dallas Newsletter, July 2009

Come One Come All

And bring a buddy. For the month of July, Club Dallas is fighting back with its popular recession busting "Buddy Night". On Thursday nights during the month of July, when you bring a buddy to Club Dallas during the hours of 4 pm to midnight, your buddy gets a free locker when you pay for a room. This is great value. So don't be late to this popular event!

July 4th Celebration Around the Pool

Join us poolside on Saturday, July 4th for a complimentary BBQ while we hoist the Stars & Stripes in celebration of America's Independence Day. Festivities begin at 1:00 pm sharp and don't forget our regular Sunday 1:00 pm BBQ during the entire summer. Clothing strictly optional, of course!

Lazy Hazy Days of Summer

Summer is back and that means more time out doors for many of us, especially more time by the pool working on a tan. One question that always comes up is whether or not you can get a suntan on a cloudy day. The answer is an unequivocal "yes." In fact, cloudy days often mean that there is a greater chance for severe burns. That statement seems counterintuitive on the surface because many of us think that if we can't see the sun then we're not going to get a tan but it's the invisible rays (the UV rays) that are at work and are responsible for sunburns and suntans. Its' true that clouds act as a filter for the UV rays but still about 80% of the sun's UV rays can pass through clouds, fog and haze. When we're laying out on cloudy days we don't feel as hot as we do under direct sunlight so we tend to spend more time outside. We might even neglect to apply sunscreen leaving our skin completely vulnerable to the sun's UV rays. These two factors are the main reasons for some of the severe burns that have been reported on cloudy days. So, if you do lay out by the pool on a cloudy day, you should use the same precautions as if the sun were out in full force.

Summer is fun but sunburn is not. When working on a summer tan whether you're out on sunny days or cloudy days start out slowly. Gradually increase the time you expose your skin to the sun. Always, always use a sunscreen when out doors. Look for a sunscreen that's water proof. Reapply sunscreen after you've been in the water. If you're skin is fair or your hair is red or blond or your eyes are blue than choose a sun screen that has the highest SPF factor. Limit your time in the sun during peak hours, usually from 10 am to 3 pm. If you're taking medication (especially for HIV) or herbal remedies, check for side effects to sun sensitivity. Most of all, use common sense when out in the sun and be particularly careful on cloudy days. The clouds will not protect you from the effects of the sun and can actually fool you into thinking that you're not getting a burn.

If you should find that you've spent too much time soaking up the rays and you come away with a burn, here are some things that you can do. Obviously the best possible way to treat a sunburn is to avoid being burned in the first place. There are many ways to do this and sunscreen is the best. You can buy it in many different types of SPF (Sun Protection Factor). Depending upon your skin, choosing the best one for you is not that difficult. The lower the SPF number on the bottle, the less protection you will get. A higher SPF number means more protection. If you have a fair complexion, then an SPF of 45 or higher is good for you. There is waterproof sunblock also available, so you can still enjoy water sports (Remember, we're talking water sports of the "outdoor" variety here). Also, wearing a hat and covering your skin up with loose clothing is a great idea. Being covered makes it impossible for the sun to get to your skin. Aloe helps to soothe the pain and calm the sunburn. This can be purchased at most stores and it is inexpensive, depending on the brand you buy. Aloe also has other benefits; if put on right away it will help your sunburn turn into a tan. There will be less peeling of the dead skin and possibly none at all. Using a wet rag or cloth and applying it right to the burn area will provide some temporary relief from the pain and discomfort of a sunburn. Some people say that soaking the rag in a mixture of vinegar and water will also draw out the heat of a sunburn. Make sure to take in enough fluids by drinking water. When sunburned, most people tend to get really dehydrated. Use an anti-inflammatory for the burn. This will help take away pain and inflammation out of the burn so you are more comfortable.

Summer Reading

Whether you're out by the pool or under a shade tree or sitting at home, here are some reading suggestions to help you through our Dallas heat.

The Distance Between Us (by Bart Yates) looks at the world through the eyes of a bitter old woman and does a good job doing so. Hester Parker is not a likeable person and one finds it difficult to sympathize or empathize with her. As an individual, Hester is hard to handle, and with her family - the messiest collection of talented eccentrics gathered under one roof - she is even worse. It is only when dealing with Alex - a fellow even more damaged than Hester or her kin - that Hester allows her finer nature to come through; a nature that failed her when her youngest son Jeremy needed her most. Only toward the end does Hester manage to come through for her family in need. The Distance Between Us fascinates us with its unique (if disturbing) characters, brisk dialog and interesting plot, even if the ending left us a bit cold. Ironically, the most disappointing character in the book is Alex, the gay character

My Lucky Star (by Joe Keenan) This hilarious novel (his third) takes off where Keenan's previous books left off. He again depicts a world of humorous, campy gay life, but this time in Hollywood rather than Manhattan. Despite being published by Little Brown, a stately New England publisher, this book doesn't mince words when it comes to hot gay encounters of the Hollywood kind. While not overly explicit, it is as graphic as a heterosexual romantic comedy of errors would be. Female readers (and even some straight men) will find out what two gay men might get up to if left alone with perfect, seductive lighting! This is a fun, quick read by a Hollywood writer (Keenan won several Emmy's writing for Frasier) that raises suspicions he is writing about real celebrities and just giving them new names.

Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less (by Jeffrey Archer) Archer is best known for his long and entertaining sagas that span generations. However, Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less covers just a few months and concentrates on four main characters who have been seriously conned by one very brilliant guru of deceit. The book plots out how the four men go about getting their revenge in often funny and ingenious ways. This is a good and light read with interesting turns and twists to the plot as you get closer to the end of the novel. You'll finish with a smile on your face.

Some Out There Fetishes

I recently came across an article describing some rather far out fetishes. That took me back to a conversation I had with my lover a long time ago when I was young and oh so very naive. My lover and I were in our early twenties. He was a year younger than I but was light years ahead of me in the experience category. We were having a conversation in bed where most of our conversations usually took place. Somehow the topic of our conversation turned to fetishes. I can remember how I just listened in absolute disbelief as he described, what I learned later to be, some of the tamer types of fetishes that involved urine, scat, leather and farts.

Quite a bit of time has passed since that conversation and I like to think that I've broadened my experiences a bit more since then but after reading the article that took me back in time, it occurred to me that I still have a way to go. Even though I've adopted a "live and let live" attitude to most life events as long as no harm is done to anyone, I was shocked at some of the fetishes I discovered in the article I just came across.

One of the tamer varieties and one that I've never heard of and am not even sure it merits being called a fetish is mucophilia. This is when sneezing or even just watching someone else sneeze can lead to an orgasm. Then there's acrotomophilia. I've read about this somewhere or saw something about it on TV. This is sexual interest in being an amputee. The hardcore types might actually end up removing one or more of their limbs without anesthesia. Have you ever found yourself having sexual fantasies about your partner while he was asleep? There's a name for that, too. It's called somnophilia. Some somnophiliacs lose all sexual interest if the partner wakes up. For some partners I've been with, somnophila might have been the better option. There's autassassinophilia which is about people who fantasize about getting murdered and are unable to get sexually aroused unless they are in an extremely dangerous situation. This one is a bit heavy duty for me because the really committed ones end up getting killed. Then there's the equally dangerous asphyxiophilia, arousal through strangulation. Stigmatophilia is sexual arousal by body piercings and tattoos. Dacryphilia is arousal by tears and sobs. People with these fetishes often have sadistic tendencies sometimes acting out their fantasies in BDMS scenes by humiliating a sub until he breaks down and cries.

I'm sure that's not all of them but once again I've learned just how naive I am. Maybe some of you could share some of what you know about fetishes I missed.

First Time at a Gay Bath House – What to Expect

One of the most frequently asked questions by guys who've never been to a gay bath house is, "What can I expect when I get there?" So, I thought I'd try to shed some light on that question by telling about my first visit to a bath house in St. Louis, Missouri. The name of the bath house was Club St. Louis, which is part of The Clubs chain. I was lucky because I went with my best friend who gave me the grand tour and that's really the way to go. If you can go with a friend then you won't have as much anxiety about the whole experience but if you don't have a friend to hold your hand then that's not a problem either ' cause I'll give you the information you need to get you in the door and get you moving in the right direction.

First of all, you need to be at least 18 or older. You'll also need some type of identification. This is only to prove your age. Any information that you provide at the door is NEVER used or revealed to anyone else. Nothing will ever be mailed to your home. You can either purchase a membership for a block of time which is usually from 3 to 6 months and for which you receive a membership card which you can use for future visits without paying for membership all over again or you can purchase a "one-time only" membership which is good for only once visit to the club. Any paperwork that you fill out for a "one-time" membership is destroyed immediately when you leave the club. There are also gym memberships available for purchase but we'll talk about those in a later posting. Once you purchase a membership, you'll be asked if you want a room or a locker. That's a fairly straightforward concept. Rooms allow you more privacy and there are a variety of rooms to choose from. There are regular rooms, video rooms and VIP rooms. Prices and amenities vary depending on the type of room you choose. Basically, regular rooms and video rooms have a single bed and other rooms like the VIP rooms are roomier with larger beds. You can call ahead to find out more by going to The Clubs Website to get a phone number for a club near you. Finally, your locker or room is yours for a set period of hours depending on the day of the week – no sharing please. If you go with a friend, he'll have to have his own room or locker. Busier times of the week mean that you "own" your room or locker for fewer hours but you're free to renew the time limit should you decide to stay longer. Once you're assigned a locker or a room, you'll get a towel and key and you're on your way.

Once you've found your room or locker, you can change into your towel. If you prefer to stay dressed, that's fine too. Almost everyone wears a towel. That's what I did. It's unusual to see guys walking around stark naked. Do what you feel comfortable doing. That's the important thing. Once you've decided on what you want to wear, take a walk around. My friend showed me around and then left me in a darkened room where I couldn't even see my hand in front of me. Find out where everything is. Besides the whirlpool, saunas, swimming pool, TV lounge, etc., there's plenty more to get into. Again, you determine your comfort level. If you only want to pamper yourself by taking advantage of the steam and hot water works, then go for it. It's a great way to relax! Take a swim if you want. Swim suits are optional. If you're looking for more, believe me it's there!

I hope you find your first visit to a gay bath house as enjoyable as I found mine. I've been a steady customer since my first visit. For another perspective here's a little video featuring a straight guy's first visit to a gay bath house that you might also enjoy. I wonder if he ever went back!

A Gay Man's First Experience at a Men's Bath House

My first experience with a men's bath house was during the American Bicentennial. It wasn't a gay bath house. Although I was gay, I'd never heard of a gay bath house in my home town and I was a far cry from my home town anyway. I was in London, England at the end of a 6-week European vacation. I guess I had crammed too much activity into my six week sprint across Europe because I was feeling run down, had a scratchy throat, stuffy nose and ached all over. It was April in London and the weather was cold and rainy which only added to my physical discomfort. I had read about the restorative value of steam rooms and saunas. The Romans had them. The Greeks had them. The Russian ones were noted for helping to mitigate the effects of severe hangovers. So, I decided to search out a place to remedy my run down state.

I ended up in a section of London where I had the address for what was called a Turkish bath house. I had no idea what to expect but I screwed up my courage, pushed through the door and went in. Once inside I found myself in a small lobby facing an overly made-up matronly attendant with pink hair and a florid complexion sitting within a small cage against the wall. There was a whiff of chlorine in the air which when mixed with the matron's ample perfume had already begun to clear my stuffy nose. I approached the cage, asked how much, paid my money and was handed a towel and a key to a locker. I had no idea what I was supposed to do after that so I told the attendant that it was my first time and asked her if she could tell me what to do. She smiled politely, told me to go through the curtain area and that she'd be in to show me around. I nodded that I understood but instead of moving from her stool she just started laughing. It was more of a high pitched cackle than a laugh. She finally said in her very precise British accent, "You Americans are so funny. We're not as liberal as you are. I can't go in there with you. It's for men only, luv! You'll see the lockers directly in front of you. Change into your towel, lock your clothes away and have a good look around. You'll get the hang of it in no time."

Well, I did as instructed, still smarting a bit from the matron's teasing and feeling more than a little embarrassed by my massive if not youthful gullibility. Who would have thought that we Americans were all that liberal anyway? She was right about one thing, though. Once I started looking around, it seemed fairly easy to figure things out. There was no gym equipment. The physical fitness craze hadn't made it to England just then but there was a steam room, a dry sauna, a whirlpool, a luxurious swimming pool, showers and a special room for what was called a "soap massage." My "gaydar" told me that there were a few gay guys around but for the most part there was nothing really overtly gay about the place. So, I set off to experience all the amenities that my newly found Turkish bath had to offer.

And sample I did. I tried out all that the bath house had to offer. The only real mistake I made was jumping into what I thought was a regular swimming pool just after coming out of the steam room. What I didn't know was that the swimming pool was filled with water so frigid that it could have come directly from the North Sea. Had I not been so young and with a healthy heart, I might have just succumbed to instant cardiac arrest due to the abrupt temperature change the minute I hit the icy water. I ended my bath house experience with the "soap massage" which was exactly what it sounded like. A big brute of a man soaped me down and gave me the massage of a lifetime. I could have done that a couple more times with him but by then I'd already spent most of the afternoon at the bath house and it was time to go.

Reluctantly I showered, got dressed and bid my rosy matron a fond farewell. I stepped out into London's miserable weather only to discover that I was somehow immune to it. I'd never felt better. My energy was back. I no longer had a scratchy throat and was breathing freely. I was on top of the world and could honestly say that there was a restorative value to my visit. It wasn't to be my last visit to a bath house. My next visit would be to a gay bath house but more about that in my next post. Until then, why not check out our website at for more information on our locations and facilities. We have everything you'll need, minus the pink-haired matron at the door, to give yourself a well deserved lift in spirit and well being.

Club Orlando - March 2009 Newsletter

Special Feature: Joy Metropolitan Community Church

The history of Joy MCC is similar to many Metropolitan Community Churches formed in the early years of the denomination. In November 1978, the Southeast District Committee of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches approved sending Rev. Arthur Fleschner to Orlando. By mid-January 1979, he had persuaded 22 people to take part in forming a new MCC. The group first met on January 14, 1979. Under Rev. Fleschner's leadership, Joy MCC achieved "New Work" status as a beginning church body on March 18, 1979; this was followed by "Commissioned Church" status on June 9, 1981.

Joy continued to grow at a rapid rate. This was a good sign that the Orlando area was the right place for a MCC church. Joy MCC worked hard to prepare all the documents for gaining "Chartered Church" status. The District Committee recommended that the UFMCC Board of Elders grant "Chartered Church" status to Joy MCC and approval was given on December 13, 1982. Joy MCC selected March 13, 1983 as its chartering date.

From the very beginning, Joy MCC has actively supported and been supported by the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community throughout the Central Florida area. The vision of Joy MCC is to "share and embody the love of Jesus Christ, without barriers, as we journey together with God."

The story of Joy MCC - that began 30 years ago - continues today, with strong leadership provided by Rev. John Middleton.

In addition to providing a spiritual vision for the love of Jesus Christ, Joy MCC is active in the Central Florida community. Joy MCC provides support for the Garrett-Reed Thanksgiving Food Drive, and the Winnie Toal Food Pantry which services the entire Central Florida area with food for the hungry. Joy MCC also provides meeting space for many groups in the GLBT community, including AA (Alcoholics Anonymous), CMA (Crystal Methamphetamine Anonymous), SAA (Sex Addicts Anonymous) and others. If you would like to get more information or become actively involved, please contact Joy MCC at the following email address:

Loosing Belly Fat through Exercise

One thing people need to know while trying to loose unwanted fat on the mid section: They don't take into consideration the hormone connection to fat burning. Exercise itself does not burn fat. It triggers hormones that do that. It takes place 24-48 hours after a good sleep. The hormones that work through the liver are called growth hormone.

Club Orlando - February 2009 Newsletter

Special Feature: Miracle of Love, Inc.

In 1967, Lowell Stafford was born in Orlando. The sixth of seven children, he grew up here and attended West Orange High. After graduation, he moved to Greensboro, NC to pursue his studies in Nursing. It was there that this 19 year old man went to his local Blood Bank to donate his blood. He wanted to help others in need. It was then, that he learned that he had tested positive for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).

This young man's quest for support and information was met by irrational fear, ignorance, and rejection. He made his decision to move back to Orlando. Determined to make a difference in the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS, and with an annual budget of $10,000 he founded Miracle of Love in 1991. He started by volunteering at the 33rd Street Correctional Facility and the Central Florida Reception Center, testing and educating prisoners. He spent any free time applying for grants to fund his project.
In 1999 he was awarded $60,000 from The Ryan White Care Act. He was able to hire 2 full time employees and expand the care and commitment that our community so desperately needed. Today, Miracle of Love has a staff of over 20 employees and is one of the most highly respected organizations in Central Florida.

Sadly, our community lost Lowell Stafford in 2003. But through his vision and the dedication of the staff, Miracle of Love continues to provide exemplary services and support to our community. Miracle of Love has been providing complimentary testing at Club Orlando for many years. We appreciate them being a part of our community. They rely on donations and grants for their funding. Please visit their website and make a donation today.

Miracle of Love provides Free and Confidential Testing the first and third Friday of each month at Club Orlando. Membership is not required.

Each month we would like to feature organizations or groups that are out there making a difference in our world. Is there an organization you are aware of that perhaps others could benefit by knowing? Let us know by clicking on Contact Us on our homepage, or send an email to

Club Columbus is offering One Week of Fitness Free during the month of January, 2009. Check out the ad on our web site or call Bob at 614-291-0049, extension 4 to schedule an appointment. On January 19, Martin Luther Kings, Jr. Day, services will be held at King's former church, Ebenezer Baptist Church. This service comes the day before the inauguration ceremony in Washington D.C. with Rev. Rick Warren delivering the keynote address. "Dr. King's dream includes everyone", said Farris, the chief organizing officer for the service. "Rick Warren may not agree with some of the things that some of God's children do, but he does at least acknowledge that they are God's children, unlike a lot of the other conservative colleagues,", said Farris. Let's hope Issac Newton Farris, Jr. is right in believing this will unite all groups who struggle against bigotry and for the acceptance of all.

Ugly, worn paneling has been replaced with freshly painted drywall in the private rooms and suites. Each room required that all molding, trim, electrical outlet, and paneling be removed before new drywall could be installed. Once the new walls were sanded and painted, all the trim and fixtures had to be re-installed. Thanks to Shawn and Ray for their hard work in sprucing up the "new rooms".

Our newly redesigned has become XXX. Besides the Clubs Locker Room, you can post your profile, blog, set up groups, and more. Check it out.

Only Bill Maher has the balls to make such a scathing documentary about organized religion in the movie "Religulous". Only Harvey Milk had the balls to courageously and mercilessly fight against bigotry in the movie "Milk". If you are not part of the Religious Right, believe in religious pluralism, and believe that constitutional democracy matter, you must see these two movies. Both "Religulous" and "Milk" show the "religious war" going on in America, and how the Religious Right would take away our freedoms. GO SEE THE MOVIES.

The entire staff of Club Columbus thank you for your support during the past year and wish you happiness, success, and good health in 2009. As always, we welcome your feedback.

Club Indianapolis - January 2009 Newsletter

Surviving the Thanksgiving to New Year's Day crunch is enough to make even the merriest to see Rudolph-nosed red. On January 2, that anti-celebration break sets in when you just collapse onto the couch and unbutton your ever-tightened post-buffet pants and retire that Mariah Carey Christmas collection from your CD player. You have gone from 24/7 party person to dead-halted recluse...and not by choice, but by an empty calendar coincidence. To fill-in that empty calendar, Club Indianapolis is offering One Week of Fitness Free to combat that post-holiday depression. Check out the ad on our web site or call Bob at 317-635-5796, extension 5 to schedule and appointment Bring along a friend to help you start the New Year out right! There is absolutely NO CHARGE for this.

On January 19, we celebrate the birthday of Rev. Dr. Marin Luther King, Jr., America's civil rights icon. There are some, both within and outside the gay community, who object when LGBT people draw comparisons between our civil rights struggle and the movement for black civil rights. However, many feel our struggles need not be identical in order for appropriate comparisons to be made. Most importantly, acknowledging the similarities between struggles for social and economic justice--be they on the basis of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or anything else--in no way diminishes any of those struggles. As so eloquently articulate by Dr. King: 'Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere'. Hopefully, Dr. King's memory will make all of us proud to be an American.

on the redesigned Everyday, hot men are joining the Clubs Locker Room, submitting their photos, downloading their video, posting their profile, blogging, setting up groups, etc. There's enough new things to do on the web site to keep a guy busy.

Beware when you hear claims that the Religious Right is dead. When Religious Right leaders, such as James Dobson, call for "martyrs" and predicts there will come a time when we will have to risk our lives to save "God's country", than such declarations that the Culture Wars are over turn out to be spectacularly wrong. If you have the chance, go see the movie "Religulous" and the movie "Milk". In both movies, we see how the Religious Right intends and is capable of waging and winning theocractic battles against LGBT human rights. GO SEE THE TWO MOVIES.

The entire staff of Club Indianapolis thanks you for your support during the past year and wish you happiness, success, and good health in 2009. As always, we welcome your feedback.
